A Child Mt 19:13-15
Children were brought to Jesus that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked them, but Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." After he placed his hands on them, he went away.
The children are of the kingdom of heaven. Jesus blessed them and accepted them. Our troubled times and society create situations where the children come last or in their needs are turned away. The orphaned, the starving, the victims of violence, the sick children of the world cry out to all of us to let them come to us. How can we live any other way than with our arms open to the children? If I ignore them, I have learned nothing from Jesus. O God come to my assistance. O Lord create in me a clean heart. Today, I start the day with a prayer for the children of our troubled world and that I have an open heart to them.
