Gal 3:22-29 Brothers and sisters: Scripture confined all things under the power of sin, that through faith in Jesus Christ the promise might be given to those who believe. Before faith came, we were held in custody under law, confined for the faith that was to be revealed. Consequently, the law was our disciplinarian for Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a disciplinarian. For through faith you are all children of God in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free person, there is not male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s descendants, heirs according to the promise.
Ps 105:2-3, 4-5, 6-7 R. (8a) The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
Sing to him, sing his praise, proclaim all his wondrous deeds.Glory in his holy name; rejoice, O hearts that seek the LORD!
R. The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
Look to the LORD in his strength; seek to serve him constantly. Recall the wondrous deeds that he has wrought, his portents, and the judgments he has uttered.
R. The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
You descendants of Abraham, his servants, sons of Jacob, his chosen ones! He, the LORD, is our God; throughout the earth his judgments prevail.
R. The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
Lk 11:27-28 While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him,“Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”
"Blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it." Jesus is inviting me to be like him by our act of following God and observing God's will and laws. The first reading teaches that as a Christian my inheritance includes the promise of the kingdom. Their is a comfort in belonging to the Lord and belonging to God and at the same time a call to act in the ways the Jesus and God the Father are calling me to not simply by my own self. Hearing is part of obeying and the way to hear more fully is to stop and put down whatever I am doing and carefully look at and listen to what God is saying to me in each person and each situation. It is a key step in discerning God's will for me each day and in each moment. I must say that my eyes often are more atttuned to everything than my ears. I am a highly visually oriented person.
I pray that my ears today will be open and attuned to hearing what God is calling me to in every moment of this new day. I pray that I will be a willing servant of God and do God's will with an open and loving heart ready to run on the path of God's way with my heart overflowing with love.
Today is my birthday. Today my thoughts go to my mother who died amost thirty years ago. I know that she is in heaven. My next prayer is that she is pleased that I have used her many lessons and am grateful every day for the kind and loving home that she and my father and sister with the grace of God gave me. I am forever thankful for all of the childhood blessings that I have received and all of the loving lessons that were given with honesty and kindness. I know mom that you would ask me to continue to stay in loving touch with dad which I am doing, which is a joy.
God grant me the Holy Spirit to give wisdom, courage and kindness to all who I encounter this day.
