March 12 Morning Rose

Resurrection Ez 37:12-14

Thus says the LORD GOD: O my people, I will open your graves and have you rise from them,
and bring you back to the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the LORD,
when I open your graves and have you rise from them,
O my people! I will put my spirit in you that you may live, and I will settle you upon your land;
thus you shall know that I am the LORD. I have promised, and I will do it, says the LORD.

The Gospel today is the story of Lazarus being raised from the dead. Jesus asks in prayer that God the Father do this so that "they may believe." It is a telling of the story to come. Jesus will soon have the time come for Resurrection from his tomb. Jesus was moved to tears. He had a real love for the people even though they often did not understand him. The Hebrew Bible reading from Ezekiel also talks of rising from the graves. The Lord will put the Lord's spirit in the people, they will know the Lord and be risen from the graves. New life is to be found in faith in God with faith comes the renewal of life, the Resurrection to come.
