Lk 21:1-4
When Jesus looked up he saw some wealthy people putting their offerings into the treasury and he noticed a poor widow putting in two small coins.
He said, “I tell you truly, this poor widow put in more than all the rest; for those others have all made offerings from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has offered her whole livelihood.”
This is the last week of ordinary time in the Church's liturgical year. It concludes the cycle that I started of blogging in the beginning of the second week of this liturgical year A with the intention of having as many as possible daily lectio reflections on the liturgically scheduled readings. It was a growth time and learning time for me perhaps about ten days or fourteen were not journaled on during that period due to personal scheduling problems. For me it has been a time of gifts from the Word of God. Staying with the Word is sitting with God staying close to God in the heart and mind.

The reading today reminds me that the matter of charity is a matter of attitude of open giving. I have seen so many times more generous giving in those who have the least. It is not always what you give but the willingness to give without counting the cost or regretting what was let go. I pray for a kind and giving way with all the people I encounter today in my work and home.
