Lk 18:35-43
As Jesus approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.

They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!” The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me!” Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” He replied, “Lord, please let me see.” Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.” He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.

There is a way of persisting and perservering that is rewarded again in this reading. The crowd is trying to hush the blind man but he continues to call out to Jesus and asks for healing. The faith in God is what heals the man.

It is so common that when I call out in need to Jesus that the people that happen to hear of my needs can be naysayers...Why are you wounded you shouldnt feel wounded. Why are you asking dont bother God...Your needs are not large compared to the person next to you...and so forth. I need to maintain that single minded focus on Jesus and not allow the "naysayers" of the crowd to sway my pursuit of Jesus for assistance in my needs for healing. It really is only the person who needs to be healed who really knows what they need and are asking of Jesus. It is only Jesus who can truly heal.

I pray today for single minded devotion in Jesus in the midst of a world filled with naysayers and the faith to listen for the voice of God first in all things this day.
