Lk 13:18-21

Jesus said, “What is the Kingdom of God like? To what can I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that a man took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches.”

Again he said, “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of wheat flour until the whole batch of dough was leavened.”

The mustard seed is a very small seed that grows to a large treelike bush. The bread grows when leavened. The Kingdom of God is a place where we are meant to grow to increase, to be filled with the love of God. With faith nothing is impossible. My individual trials at times tire me to the point that I need to reremind myself of the beauty and wonder of what God has in store for those who are ready. When I was about eight years old, I had a little mustard seed in glass that I wore on a chain. It fascinated me. I thought it was a great curiousity and treasure. It was so awesome that such a tiny thing could grow into something so large.
