The Ascension

Mk 16:15-20 Jesus said to his disciples: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs The disciples are given here the calling to follow Jesus. How to live the way and spread the Good News. To heal in the name of the Lord, to believe, to preach the Gospel...The disciples went out and followed the call of Jesus. They saw that the words of Christ were true in the signs that confirmed them. Living a life in Christ is confirmed daily in signs. The way of love, light and life gives the power to be an instrument of healing through Christ. I am grateful for the grace of the gift of belief and faith and daily look to the opportunity to preach the love and light especially in my actions toward others, but also in my words. The Ascension is a time of wonder, anticipation and a time to be present to God when the Son is not always visible. It is that time to be moved from inside to go forth and share the love of Christ with all. I pray that today I may give healing and love to those I encounter.
