LIGHT

Jn 12:44-50 Jesus cried out and said,“Whoever believes in me believes not only in mebut also in the one who sent me,and whoever sees me sees the one who sent me. I came into the world as light, so that everyone who believes in me might not remain in darkness. And if anyone hears my words and does not observe them, I do not condemn him, for I did not come to condemn the world but to save the world. Whoever rejects me and does not accept my words
has something to judge him: the word that I spoke, it will condemn him on the last day, because I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. So what I say, I say as the Father told me.
I love the Christopher's saying that it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
I believe that in this Gospel reading Jesus is calling all to light a candle and to embrace the light of the love of God.
We are born with love and light and the will to listen and love God and live in the light or to turn a deaf ear and live in the dark.
It seems simple at the moment but as a day of life unfolds there are constant opportunities to either walk in the light
or turn away and fall into the darkness.
For me a guide to the light is what is the truth. I think the knowledge of truth, the reality and presence of truth and acts of truth all bring light into my life. The Word of God is also the presence of Christ to me daily that feeds my heart and mind and fills it with the energy and love that keep giving.
The darkness of selfishness turned from God is something that I believe takes away a part of a person and erodes the soul.
The light sustains and gives life and happiness.
